WordPress 4.4 “Clifford” was named after jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown is now accessible for download after four months of development led by Scott Taylor. The release highlights responsive images, WordPress embeds, the Twenty Sixteen default theme and the first half of the REST API. In responsive images, it automatically crops them to smaller sizes when users upload images to WordPress. The image sizes will look like full size (1500 x 706), large (500 x 235), medium (300 x 141), and thumbnail (150 x 150). Embed WordPress Posts in version 4.4 becomes a trusted oEmbed source which allows anyone to easily embed content from WordPress powered sites. In WordPress 4.4 phase one of the REST API is included which the infrastructure portion of the API handles the routing argument, JSON, and statues codes. Takashi Irie, designed the Twenty Sixteen, a new default theme, was built with a mobile first, responsive approach. It has an optional right-hand sidebar, displays author information to the left of posts, and four different color schemes (dark, gray, red and yellow).
