When WordCampus was announced, some of our readers expressed concern that the event’s name is too similar to WordCamp US which will cause confusion to the public. Another concern was the event would infringe the WordCamp trademark that is owned and protected by the WordPress Foundation. So the organizing group decided to change name from WordCampus to WPCampus. Rachel Carden, one of the event’s primary organizers, says the team had a backup plan from day one as WordCampus was being confused with WordCamp US.
